There are many issues in life that motivate me to be a Graphic and Web designer. From the complexity of immigration issues between Latin America and the United States, to the mystery of some tennis shoes hanging on a cable in the street. When appropriate I try to address the conflicts that affect my community, with the purpose of making my audience more conscious about them.
Depending on the project itself, I use a mixture of handmade art and computer art. I believe that computer art by itself is not very interesting. To distinguish my work, I use different mediums, such as paint, food, dirt, drawings, and pictures. Then I combine these mediums with my computer skills to improve the final result.
Whether it is print or web work, I approach the objective in a simple manner, not using too many colors or too many elements. I only use the necessary tools to make my design meet its objective. I enjoy when my work is not only beautiful, but also functional. Designing for the web allows me to achieve a broader range of objectives, due to the interaction of my work and the audience. The Internet is a huge monster that has a strong influence in society today. Just like in magazines, posters and many other print documents that require graphic designers, the Internet needs them too.
The main purpose of a design is to communicate an idea, and ideas are not limited to print documents. As a young graphic designer in the year 2009, I look at historic and contemporary design, and also world issues. I want to have something interesting to share, taking advantage of the media that are available to me in this day and age.
